Amblyopia

The Amblyopic eye usually has very high degree of myopia. In some cases the eye is not able to see anything in sharp focus. Everything is more or less our of focus. Amblyopia can also occur when the eye is very far sighted. In some cases one eye is near sighted and the other is far sighted.

The brain will switch off if there is too much difference between the two eyes. Or in some cases switch between the eyes. For example if there are more than 3 diopters difference between the two eyes, one eye is likely to be ignored because of the distorted information it is providing.

Here is a simple non-scientific test you can do yourself. Take a piece of cardboard and prick a hole in it with a needle. Hold the cardboard up in front of your eye and look through the hole. If you notice an improvement in your vision, chances are that Vision Training you can help you.
