Start working smart with your computer

More and more work involve keyboards and video screens. You have probably noticed that prolonged close work has an adverse effect on your eyesight. Also more and more people realize that working with computers for extended periods of time may cause vision problems. There is even EU legislation that recognizes this fact and mandate employers to provide the necessary corrective appliance. In most cases this means paying for glasses designed for work.

The Vision training approach is to restore normal vision via simple exercises. The advantage is that you regain your natural clear vision and do not depend on any corrective appliances. Working eyes is a program designed to restore natural clear vision for people working with computers. The program is designed for the typical vision problems encountered at work and is not intended for restoring vision in cases where more than 2 diopters correction is needed. People requiring more than 2 diopters correction require more training and more information than provided in the Working eyes program. Working eyes: vision training for computer users is intended as a prevention program and to optimise work performance.

Research show that near work for extended periods of time may lead to vision problems about 88% report computer related vision problems. The human eye is designed to roam the environment and look at things near and far. In the days when we lived in the wilderness it was very important to be able to spot dangerous predators might eat you. Now a days we do not have this problem. Modern life require more and more people to work in offices and with computers. This is predominately near work. In other words you use your eyes to focus on objects within about 50 to 60 cm from your eyes. In addition computer work often require a high degree of concentration, which complicates the issue and cause additional stress for the eyes.

The scientific term for this is “Accommodative fatigue” or “Ill-sustained Accommodation.” You know this phenomenon when you use the same muscle group for extended periods of time. In former times the typical problem in offices was typewriter wrists. Typists developed problems in their wrists due to overuse—Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. In sport you often experience muscle cramps when you overexert yourself. With eyesight this stress lead to progressive myopia. Initially the blur clears up over night. However, if the condition is not recognized and attended to the blur begins to be permanent. The good news is that this condition can easily be corrected by simple vision training exercises and attention to the ergonomics at the workplace.

Most people working with computers realize that their posture tend to collapse as they work. This of course influences the normal energy flow in the body. Especially the back and neck muscle's tend to hold this tension. The result is that your productivity at work begins to slow down towards the end of the day. Before long you begin to feel the tension all the time.

A significant part of the Working eyes program include exercises, designed to release this tension from your spine and back. Spending a few minutes releasing tension in your back and neck help prevent the situation from developing any further. Also your brain gets a welcome break so your attention and concentration can be refreshed. Every time you change your body posture you also refresh your attention span. The result is consistent high productivity.
